Game[/url] properly again whilst still working on the Mini Game for Christmas. I did a little of it and found myself thinking, "Wow, i've made a real mess of this. I really don't like this, it's rubbish". Now to think something like this about your own work is not a good thing! It made me think that if I feel that way about it, then my supporters aren't going to be enjoying it half as much as I'd like them to! So I decided to do something about it, and simply going back and changing things wasn't enough. I needed to start again, from scratch, to build the game again from the bottom up.
I've made the game now, exactly how it should have been when I started, but unfortunately I could never have made it this way back then, I just lacked the knowledge that I now have. Like my 3D[/url] work. How many times now have I altered that? Too many times to count. I'm not here to make some half-assed game. I'm here to make something good. Something really, really good! So with the knowledge i've gained through the process of making the game i've had the opportunity to apply all of it, cleanly and not messy like it was before. The structure of the game behind the scenes was a mess before, switches all over the place I just had no idea what I was doing really. But, I needed that time to progress myself.
Anyway enough of all that stuff. Let me get on with what I have actually done:
So let's start with mapping. I've used most maps from the previous version but added them together to make bigger maps. This allows me to get the free-roam right for when it becomes available. Which will be on the first weekend (yes there are days now.) from the first weekend you will be able to move freely around the areas that you have discovered during the first week. This will allow the player to do other things than just follow the storyline. Something I enjoy a lot in games.
Secondly, let's move on to Sprites. Now some people don't care less about sprites. It's just a character you play with right? Not in my opinion. I like the way it looks, I love sprites because it adds diversity to a game. It makes it different to everybody elses right? So i've sought help from a third-party to create custom sprites, not just for Chloe and the other Characters, but for NPC's to even Vehicles. This will, in my opinion, add something different to my game.
Next, let's move on to sounds. I'm sick of having the same old sounds replayed over and over again from game to game. I'm changing that. I'm adding custom sounds. I think I have about 15 right now, but that's now, come the end of the game we will be looking at more than a 100. Something small, but significant in my opinion.
Next, something good, Corruption. Before my game had it and everything, but I had it all wrong. It was too quick too... shitty. Now i've slowed it right down to create real corruption. To allow the player to make all the choices in the game from helping an old lady in a store, to taking somebody home who's in trouble. Then the more extreme things from kissing to sex in the future, but that will of course depend on your corruption you've decided to give the player. Afterall you can gain it, but you can also decrease it. You as the player are going to make every decision for Chloe which is important. That's what i'm getting at.
Next, Storyline. The Story I didn't think was too bad, though it was just too rushed in my opinion. So i've slowed it down, made it a little more realistic. I've also altered a lot of things to do with it and will continue to.
Mechanics, these are simple. I've added stuff like overlays to make maps looks better. I've added lights coming through windows. A better night/day cycle. Flashbacks. Police squad car lights. A BIO in the main menu to see stats. All these in such a short time. Things I couldn't dream of knowing how to do before, but now i'll keep adding them.
3D. My 3D is so much better and I keep advancing. This will constantly be reflected in my game, as you might see In the new scenes in game.
That's pretty much it for now. But the future well, here is what you have coming up:
Clothing system. Now she isn't going to be able to change her daily outfit, though it will be able to change with help from the town's stylist who Is of course a pervert! Though Chloe will only be daring enough to make her outfit more lewd depending on her corruption points. If your corruption point falls below what the requirement is, well she will change it to make it less "embarrassing".
Free Roam! Free Roam is coming and along with it, mini quests. Game routes which will only be available on certain days at certain times. LOADS! I have it all planned for you.
SPEED OF UPDATES. This is going to increase so much now. Before when I had a messy infrastructure I would take forever getting something to actually work! That is no more! I can work quicker. Add more. And most of all, do it much easier!
That's that.
One last thing. Of course the game has not been edited to where I was in the updates (0.25), but it won't take me long to get there and with all the new content it will be like playing a brand new game anyway. I know some of you will not agree with what I have done, but i've done it for myself as well as for you guys. I want to produce a GOOD, SOLID game. You're more than welcome to leave for a while and come back at a later time when i'm further ahead. That being said i'd advise against it, because as of now every 5th of every month i'm going to be posting my progress on the game. This will give you guys the opportunity to see for yourself how much i'm getting done, which will be a LOT! I want to make this game good for you! Good for the community as a few 3D games lately popping up haven't been up to a good standard. I want to set a bar for 3D RPG Maker games. This is how I start to do that.
